Description
These are Antique Scissors/ Shears, most likely from the Civil War Era.They are made in the same fashion as many listed and sold, but you be the judge.
They seem to be unmarked, but can certainly be sharpened and used again. Clean and no rust.
The only history I have with them is that my mother took lessons many years ago at R.I. School of Design in upholstery and used to do this sort of work as well as made Braided wool rug. Her father, born in 1879, was a shirt maker and owned a successful business in Providence, RI until the Great Depression. The scissors were his.
They are 11 3/4" long and 4" wide across the finger grips. Made of Iron and Brass, I think. They have some traces of old Black enamel paint on the handles, mostly worn off by use. With some sharpening, they would be good as new, and better than those made today.
