    Description

    A GREAT ADVERTISING TATTING SHUTTLE
    IN VERY GOOD CONDITION
    Made about 1910, this tatting shuttle is made of "French Ivory" which is a celluloid made to resemble ivory.
    It advertises Lydia Pinkham's Vegetable Compound with her picture on the front and the logo of Yours For Health on the back.  Ms Pinkham was an early female entrepreneur who sold items which were supposed to improve women's health problems.  The way I hear it, they contained a lot of liquor which did indeed make the women feel better.
    The Whitehead & Hoag Company of New Jersey manufactured celluloid novelties such as campaign buttons, commemorative medals etc.  You can see the name at the bottom right of the back of this shuttle.
