Antique Sewing Stitching Hand Held Tool With Punch Needle Metal Wood Handle 1888

Antique 1888 Metal Stitching Sewing Tool With A Punch Style Needle. Not sure exactly what this tool is used for but it’s possible that it is for stitching leather. There are two dates on the handle, one says 1880 something, but it is worn away and can't be read completely. The other date is April 13th 1888. The handle is wooden but it slips off easily. The tool itself is not rusted at all, but the metal is tarnished and worn. The puncture mechanism seems to be a little stiff so I’m not sure if it would still work or not. It is a very neat piece of History and a nice relic to have in a collection or for a conversation piece. It is 12 1/2'' long and quite heavy.
