Antique Majolica Trompe L’oeil Mandarin Orange Bowl with Lid Portugal
Offering a beautiful trompe l’oeil covered bowl by Bordallo Pinheiro, Portugal, believed to be early 20
th
Century. Possibly used as a covered soup or hot breakfast bowl, having a rich green glaze, the majolica bowl lid has a mandarin orange fruit with brown branch and green formed leaf. Base is impressed with the Bordallo Pinheiro Portugal mark, as well as the numbers

Bowl is in very good condition, note the following:
bowl: there is a small chip to the inner rim as well as craquelure in the glaze on the interior base.
There is also a chip on the foot rim.
lid: there are a few small chips along the outer side of leaf, please see all photos
Note that lid rests on bowl and is not a tight fit (this has caused the slight wear at rim)
A lovely addition to any majolica or trompe l’oeil collection!
