Here we have an antique crochet hook made of brass with a cross at the top. The slide works on this piece. You will note that the side of the top is flat. Under magnification this seems to be a factory modification rather than an owner’s. I have seen photos of this top as completely round. I wonder if this a “second” or if it was deliberately modified.
