Description
A superb late eighteenth century Bleston enamel etui of a tapering ovoid form. The pink enamelled case opening by hinged lid to reveal a full set of tools in a fitted interior. These implements are: pair of scissors, fruit knife, pencil, aide memoire, bodkin, spoon and needle sheath. The enamel is a pink ground with vignettes showing figures in rural landscapes and floral panels, surrounded by nicely decorated gilt frames. It is in very good condition with no damage or restoration, and stands approximately 9.5 cm high, 4 cm at its widest part and 2.5 cm deep. English, circa 1780**These etuis were used for holding tools used by ladies such as perfume bottles, sewing accessories....etc. used for day to day life and can fit easily in handbags.
